Angeles Composite Technologies, Inc. (ACTI) develops and manufactures composite aerospace component parts for the world’s most advanced commercial and military aircraft. ACTI’s extremely strong and lightweight composite products, for example, are in service on the Boeing 737 and the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor.
Situated in the rural town of Port Angeles, Washington, ACTI is unique among Alaska Native regional corporation subsidiaries because it is co-owned equally by KDC, Doyon Ltd., and the company’s original founders. Its hand-lay composite part customers include Bell Helicopter, Boeing, Bombardier, Hexcel, Leer and Lockheed Martin.
As an SBA certified 8(a) and Small Disadvantaged Business located in a HUB zone, ACTI has entered into partnerships with much larger companies. ACTI is partnered with Lockheed Martin in a Department of Defense Mentor-Protégé Program agreement; as a benefit of this relationship ACTI receives technical assistance in financial management, quality control, business development and manufacturing, while in turn reducing customer risk and costs associated with source development.
Further, ACTI is eligible for U.S. government technology development funding through the Small Business Innovative Research grant programs; companies who have unique technology in the arenas of defense, space, marine, homeland security or energy can benefit from ACTI research and development partnerships.
